Facebook Recommends…

I find it entertaining the number of things people ‘like’ on Facebook. I have friends who seem to like things that they don’t really like in real life (or perhaps they have alternative egos I am not aware of), and I have friends who seem to like everything (be a little selective please!). What entertains me more is that Facebook now takes the liberty of recommending things I might like. Of course I understand that this is a way for them to grow their business and the overall ‘social graph’ (see a post by ReadWriteWeb at http://is.gd/cOklF) on that network.

What I don’t like is when I see the following:

Facebook Recommendations
Such an astute observation!

What does this say to me? Messy user interaction ahead. While Facebook goes to some extent to prevent this from happening by showing existing things when you enter interests in your profile, this isn’t cool. Of course I like Twitter if I like Twitter. Facebook needs to come up with a way to control this as the amount of things people like increase (seemingly against the laws of mathematics, science and every other law applicable). Please do not let me see this again Facebook.
